Presbyopia contact lens is special type of contact lens that can be used instead of glasses for correction of near distance in patients with presbyopia.
Presbyopia lens can be divided into three main categories: monovision, bifocal and multifocal lenses.
1- Monovision Contact Lenses
Monovision lenses are the most common ways of correction for presbyopia. 3- Multifocal Contact Lenses.
It is called multifocal because it corrects more than near and far distances. It corrects the intermediate vision which is the vision that the patients use for tasks at 18 to 24 inches, such as working on computer.
When the lens has only near and far correction parts it is called bifocal but when it has intermediate part in addition to near and far, it is called multifocal. These lenses can also be called progressive contact lenses.
