Is Cataract Permanent?




I just wonder whether the cataract lens are permanent?If so,is it possible to change them later on or if any accidents happens will the lenses be damaged?

The natural lens is clear and transparent. For many causes this lens can be opacified and in this case, this lens is called cataract. Once Cataract occurred, it won't clear by itself and it will be permanent.

Not all cataract can affect the visual acuity of patients. This effect will depend on the density and the site of opacification. Once it started to affect vision, it should be removed.

Once removed it can be replaced by artificial intraocular lens.

Sometimes, this intraocular lens can be displaced, dropped back in the eye, damaged by Yag Capsulotomy laser and in these cases, the intraocular lens can be replaced by a new one.
