Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism are disposable soft contact lenses that are indicated for the optical correction of visual acuity in patients with astigmatism. Astigmatism is the most common vision problem, caused by an irregular shape of the cornea.

Types of Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism

There are Two Types, Acuvue daily contacts and Acuvue extended contacts.

Acuvue daily contacts are for single use while extended contacts are used frequently up to six nights or 7 days with cleaning and disinfection with chemical disinfection only.

It is recommended to wear the contact lens on a daily basis and if successful, then extended wear can be used as determined by your eye doctor.

Warnings:

Extended contact lenses have been shown to increase the risk of corneal infection. Contact lenses should not be wear overnight or on a continuous basis for 24 hours a day unless prescribed by your eye doctor.

Structures:

1- Water:

It makes 38% of contact lens weight.

2- Silicone Hydrogel material (senofilcon A):

It makes 62% of lens weight. Silicone hydrogel lenses decrease corneal hypoxia by providing 98% of available oxygen to the cornea. This material is called hydrophilic because it loves water and has the ability to absorb it and this will make the lens softer and more flexible.

3- Hydraclear Plus technology:

with wetting agent that allows a higher volume of a moisture-rich environment for the lens and cornea. This creates a more wettable lens even in challenging environment. This Hydraclear Plus technology also will give ultra-smooth contact lens which makes every blink as smooth as you are not wearing any contact lens.

4- UV Blocker:

UV Blocker helps to protect against transmission of harmful UV radiation to the cornea and into the eye. These contact lenses will not completely cover the eye globe and the surrounding area of eyelid and skin and can’t be a substitutes for proper protective eyewear such as UV-absorbing goggles or sunglasses.

5- Visibility Tinted:

Visibility Tinted with UV Blocker is tinted blue using Reactive Blue Dye 4 to make the lens more visible for handling.
