In the FDA clinical study for Orthokeratology Contact lenses, they found that more than 65% of patients achieved vision of 20/20 and around 90% achieved vision of 20/40.
Study author Dennis S.C. Lam, FRCS, FRCOphth, chairman and professor Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, said, "The general public must be aware that overnight OKL wear may be associated with very serious and visually significant complications."
They found that it can increase the risk of corneal infection such as Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Keratitis and Acanthamoeba Keratitis.
It can cause that by:
1- Overnight wearing of the them can deprive the corneas of oxygen.
2- compressive forces to be exerted on the corneal epithelium resulting in local trauma and thinning.
Other than that it can be much expensive than regular contact lenses.
You need to consider this option carefully and you should discuss this option with your eye doctor.
