1- First of all you have to do corneal topography to rule out keratoconus which is the most common cause of High astigmatism.

2- Eyeglasses.

3- Toric Contact lenses which are special contact lenses for astigmatism. They can correct astigmatism up to -5.75 D. Examples of Toric contact lenses are: Acuvue Oasys For Astigmatism, Frequency 55 Toric XR Contacts and Proclear Toric XR Contacts.

4- Lasik surgery can correct up to -5 D.

5- Astigmatic Keratotomy. Corneal incision is made to flatten the corneal surface and decrease the power of astigmatism.

6- Toric Phakic Intraocular lens.

7- Sometimes, astigmatism can be caused by the natural lens not by the cornea. Keratometry and Corneal topography are very helpful to determine the cause of the astigmatism. This form of astigmatism is called Lenticular astigmatism and can be treated by clear lens extraction with intraocular lens implantation.
