Q 1- Cloudiness in the eye

Hi,
my mum had a laser surgery for glaucoma. she had partial vision before that. After the surgery she couldn't see for a while, then she had a cataract surgery. after the cataract surgery, she regained little sight, but with cloudiness in the eye, its been six months now and its only a slight improvement. she is using some eye-drops prescribed to her. i will like to know if there is still going to be any improvements as time goes by.
Thanks

Thanks for your Question.

There are around one millions nerve axons that form the optic nerve. Untreated glaucoma will kill these axons gradually and vision will decrease with time also gradually. Glaucoma treatments, medications, laser or surgeries will not retained these killed axons and vision won't improve. These treatments are only decrease intraocular pressure and preserve the rest of the optic nerve and they won't revive dead axons.

Vision before and after laser treatment should be the same unless complications occur during the procedure such as uveitis, increase intraocular pressure that is complicated by corneal edema. Most of the time, these complications are temporary and can be treated.

Improvement over a six month is a good sign but without knowing the exact cause of cloudiness of vision i can't predict if there will be any further improvement in the future.
